RMFU Joins NFU Stand Against Hunger

Rocky Mountain Farmers Union members will join with National Farmers Union to meet a challenge grant benefitting Feeding America. Executive Director Ben Rainbolt announced today that RMFU and FUSA Insurance Agency will donate $500 to start RMFU’s commitment.

The Howard G. Buffet Foundation has offered to match every dollar given through Farmers Union members to Feeding America, up to his $50,000 challenge. Howard G. Buffett is a farmer and philanthropist with roots in the Midwest and an advocate for of Feeding America’s fight against hunger. The challenge grant provides a medium for the agricultural community to support hunger relief and help their neighbors in need. Feeding America will send the funds from each states’ members back to food banks serving their communities.

Over the years Feeding America has been a friend to farmers, standing by their side on many legislative issues of interest to the farming community. The Buffet challenge is a chance to give back. Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Every year they reach 37 million hungry Americans, nearly 14 million of them children. Their network of local food banks uses donations so efficiently that each dollar donated is worth $17 in food and groceries. The Buffet challenge is a chance to double that impact.

RMFU members and FUSA agents will be spreading the word and donating generously in the coming months. Donations can be made online at www.feedingamerica.org/NFU, or by sending a gift to Feeding America NFU Campaign, PO Box 96749, Washington, D.C., 20090-6749.
